Accessibility Policy

IntelliX Educational Services

1. Purpose

IntelliX Educational Services is committed to excellence in serving all clients, including people with disabilities. We are dedicated to providing accessible tutoring services in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), 2005 and the City of Burlington Accessibility Design Standards.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all tutoring sessions (in-person and online), communications, and learning materials, and to all staff, contractors, and volunteers representing IntelliX Educational Services.

3. Commitment to Accessibility

We strive to provide tutoring services in a way that respects the dignity, independence, integration, and equal opportunity of every client. We will identify and remove barriers that prevent full participation by people with disabilities.

4. Use of Assistive Devices

Clients are welcome to use their personal assistive devices to access our tutoring services. Tutors will be trained to interact respectfully and supportively with clients using such devices.

5. Support Persons and Service Animals

Clients accompanied by a support person are permitted in all areas of our premises that are open to the public. No additional fee will be charged for support persons. Clients accompanied by a service animal will be allowed to access all tutoring areas, unless prohibited by law. If a location cannot accommodate a service animal, we will provide alternative arrangements.

6. Communication

We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take their disability into account. Where requested, we will provide documents (lesson materials, invoices, policies) in accessible formats such as large print, audio, or digital accessible files (e.g., screen-reader friendly PDFs).

7. Notice of Temporary Disruptions

IntelliX Educational Services will provide notice to clients in case of any temporary service disruptions, including reason, duration, and alternative arrangements. Notices will be shared via email, text, or posted online.

8. Training for Staff

All staff, tutors, and volunteers will receive accessibility training on AODA, Ontario Human Rights Code, communication with people with disabilities, and the use of assistive devices and service animals. Records will be maintained and reviewed annually.

9. Physical Accessibility

IntelliX Educational Services will ensure that any tutoring location complies with Burlington’s Accessibility Design Standards, including barrier-free entrances, accessible washrooms, and sufficient space for mobility devices. Alternative arrangements will be offered where necessary.

10. Website and Digital Accessibility

Our website and online learning tools will follow WCAG 2.1 AA standards, ensuring compatibility with screen readers, captioned videos, and accessible PDFs. Alternate formats will be provided on request.

11. Feedback Process

We welcome feedback on our accessibility services. Feedback can be submitted by email, phone, or mail. All feedback will be reviewed within 10 business days. Accessible feedback methods are available upon request.

12. Policy Review and Availability

This policy will be reviewed at least once every two years or whenever there are legislative or operational changes. It will be available on our website and in accessible formats upon request.
