Elementary Tutoring FAQs
Common questions from Burlington parents about our Grades 1–8 programs.
How do you keep younger children engaged during 1-on-1 tutoring?
We believe children learn best when they feel safe and encouraged. Our elementary tutors break 60-minute sessions into structured, engaging segments with interactive problem solving, gamified math puzzles, and positive reinforcement to build confidence without pressure.
My child is struggling with reading comprehension; how do you help?
We use structured literacy and phonics principles to diagnose where decoding or fluency breaks down. Tutors guide your child through high-interest texts, teaching them to summarize passages, identify main ideas, and build vocabulary in a stress-free environment.
Do you help with Grade 8 to Grade 9 high school math transition?
Yes! Grade 8 is a critical bridge year. Ontario now features de-streamed Grade 9 Math (MTH1W). We ensure middle school students master fractions, negative integers, linear concepts, and multi-step word problems so they enter high school ahead of their peers.
Where does elementary tutoring take place?
We offer both in-person tutoring at our Burlington Learning Centre (serving Burlington, Oakville, and Waterdown) and live 1-on-1 online tutoring. You can choose the format that works best for your family.
Can one tutor help with both Math and English?
Yes! For elementary students (Grades 1–8), many of our tutors are experienced across the entire elementary curriculum and can split session time between math support and reading/writing help.
How quickly can we start?
Most families begin within 48 hours of completing the free skills assessment. Call (437) 443-6786 to discuss scheduling.
